You Cheered Me Up

As we were ending the call, my friend said quietly, "I feel much calmer after talking to you. Thank you."

I smiled.

And almost immediately, another voice surfaced — familiar, gentle, a little curious: You've heard these words before. From your son. From neighbors. From other friends.

I sat with that for a moment.

Because I am not particularly calm. I am not soft-spoken. I don't dissolve problems with incense and careful breathing. I interrupt. I joke at unexpected moments. I have a fairly compulsive need to put things in order — to line facts up side by side until the fog has nowhere left to hide.

And yet people leave our conversations feeling lighter. I've been thinking about why.

I think it's this: people don't always need to be soothed down to zero. Sometimes they need to be pulled above it, reminded that the situation is smaller than the story they're telling themselves about it. Not calmed. Reoriented.

What I offer isn't stillness. It's leverage. Clarity with momentum. I talk, I reframe, I ask the question that makes the whole thing tilt slightly, and suddenly there's room to move.

A friend once called me a Clarity Engineer. I've been quietly keeping that ever since.

Over the past year, that instinct has taken shape into something more deliberate. I've developed a series of Clarity Sessions: three phases, structured but human, designed to do exactly what that conversation with my friend did naturally: return you to facts, name what's actually happening, and find the next real step from there.

Not therapy. Not coaching in the traditional sense. More like someone who will sit across from you, hear the story you've been telling yourself, and help you find where it diverges from what's actually true.

Sometimes that's all it takes. The future stops shouting when you stop feeding it fiction.

Who helps you see things more clearly, not calmer, but truer?

And what would it mean to have that on purpose, not just by accident?

With intention,

Nadia Granski
