Poetry is a complex genre that not everyone embraces.
It found me when I was ten years old, and since then, lines have been transforming themselves into rhythm and rhyme almost without my conscious participation.
My only task is to jot them down before they vanish, unappreciated and unheard.

I found Nadia's poetry to be beautiful, personal, vulnerable, a bit sad, and ultimately hopeful.

What a gorgeous ode to St. Petersburg! The translation captures something truly evocative: the tension between the city's imperial grandeur and its intimate, hidden quarters, between what tourists see and what residents feel. "I take you whole—with shield, or on the shield" is a striking line.
The watercolor imagery of mist and rain weaving through the verses pairs beautifully with the emotional architecture. Poetry translation is such delicate work, and Nadia maintained a lovely musicality in English. She absolutely has an ear for translation.
Preserving melody across languages is one of the hardest things to do, and her instincts are strong.

It’s a lovely love letter to St. Petersburg.
